Acid reflux, commonly associated with GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease), affects around 60 million American’s every month, and nearly 25 million people every day. Acid reflux is typically caused by a weak lower esophageal sphincter (LES) that allows stomach acid and bile to leak into the esophagus.

Acid reflux, or GERD, can be debilitating and can cause daily pain, poor sleep, food intolerance, and limitations on daily activities. Medications for GERD and acid reflux are designed to control or suppress acid production in the stomach, but they DO NOT address the cause of GERD and DO NOT prevent reflux. Medications simply mask the symptoms. The most effective way to suppress the symptoms of GERD is to treat the underlying cause with anti-reflux surgery.

Cost is the number one deterrent to patients who are considering undergoing anti-reflux surgery to treat their GERD.  The cost of your surgery varies drastically based on which procedure you have done, with total costs ranging from anywhere between $8,000 and $12,000 if you have no insurance.

Prices listed above reflect full out-of-pocket costs for patients with no insurance

Looks scary, right? What many people don't realize, however, is that most (if not all) of the costs associated with anti-reflux surgery are covered by many insurances. So although that number looks a little terrifying, it's not the amount that will be coming out of your pocket.
