Goodbye GERD campaign

What is the #GoodbyeGERD campaign?

#GoodbyeGERD is an inspiring movement. It's a way to show others who are struggling with reflux and GERD that there's light at the end of the tunnel, to commemorate making the decision to take your life back and to celebrate the things you can do post-surgery that you couldn't enjoy before. It's an opportunity to officially say goodbye to your GERD for good and embrace your reflux-free life, all while helping to inspire others and putting yourself in the running for a pretty sweet prize!

How can I participate?

There are only three things you'll need to do in order to participate.

Step 1: Like Tampa Bay Reflux Center on Facebook

Step 2: Write down one thing you can do now that you couldn't do before your reflux surgery

Step 3: Take a picture of yourself doing that one thing and post it on our Facebook page using the hashtag, #GoodbyeGERD

BONUS: If you leave a review on our page about your experience with us, we'll enter you into the drawing for the prize an extra time.

When Does the contest end?

We'll be accepting entries through July 1st, and will announce our winner after the holiday weekend.

Our lucky winner is going to take home a $100 giftcard to Bern's Steakhouse. Fine dining, even finer wines, steaks that make you salivate, AND a killer dessert room? We can't think of a better way to rub your new life in your old reflux's face.

Our original inspiration for #GoodbyeGERD was two-fold.

Firstly, we wanted to find a way to help our past patients celebrate their new lives after reflux surgery. There are so many things we take for granted, and when you're living with reflux you become painfully aware of that fact. Simple things like sleeping through the whole night or eating a chocolate bar without experiencing painful bouts of heartburn begin to become much-desired luxuries. Live a few years like this, and you accustom yourself to living a life that's devoid of these luxuries. Reflux surgery helps you get that life back, and it's something we think deserves celebrating.

Our second motivation was simple. We wanted to use real stories to show patients that life after reflux is an attainable reality, that the things they're currently sacrificing don't need to be cut out of their lives forever. Reflux surgery gives you a chance to take back the areas of your life you've been forced to sacrifice. It's a fresh slate and an exciting new direction, and it's one we want to help give them the confidence to take!

Our hope is that this campaign inspires current patients to take the leap and say goodbye to their GERD for good, just like our brave former patients did.
